Eleven straight victories over Arizona State has given Stanford (11-0 SU, 8-2 ATS; R: 2-0 SU, ATS) a 30-24 advantage over the Sun Devils. The Cardinal has won eight straight games at ASU. In the last seven games, Stanford has hit 211-of-403 shots from the floor for .524 percent, and Stanford has hit 50 percent or better in shooting in six of the eleven games. Sunday, Justin Davis had 17 points and 13 rebounds and led a second-half charge for the fifth-ranked Cardinal, who needed a strong finish to defeat Washington 85-72. Chris Hernandez had 13 points and nine assists and Nick Robinson added 13 points, and Stanford shot 59.6 percent. There wasn't much else for the ASU (6-4 SU, 0-8 ATS; H: 6-2 SU, 0-6 ATS) Sun Devils to hang their hat on Saturday afternoon during an in-state rivalry loss to Arizona 93-74. Junior guard Steve Moore paced the Sun Devils with a team-high 23 points. Eleven straight wins by the Cardinal says it all, not too much will change!!!

In the past, this game stood out as a terrific West Coast Conference battle. But not this time. Pepperdine (5-10) has loads of talent, but there's something missing with this team, mainly defense!!! Pepperdine allows 78 points per game and allows opponents to shoot 47%!!! This is why they're underachieving and 4-10 against the spread, led by 6’-8” junior Glen McGowan (18 ppg, 5 rpg) and sophomore guard Alex Acker (13 ppg, 5 rpg). Gonzaga (10-2) has it all, with a strong backcourt with 6’-4” senior Blake Stepp (13 ppg, 7.5 apg) and a terrific frontcourt with 6’-8”, 250-pound senior Cory Violette (11 ppg, 7 rpg) and 6’-9”, 230-pound junior Ronny Turiaf (15.9 points, 6 boards per game, 50% shooter). Gonzaga plays 'D', allowing 39% shooting and giving up 69 ppg and the Zags went 2-0 SU/ATS last year against Pepperdine.

A tough schedule for Cal (R: 0-2 SU, ATS) this week following a loss to Washington State 55-50 on Sunday. It includes games against two of the Top 5 teams in the country. The Bears visit Arizona Thursday and Arizona State Saturday followed by a bus ride to fifth-ranked Stanford Jan. 17. Against Wazzu, neither team established much of an advantage throughout the contest, with the largest lead being five points. The Bears, who shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the first half, managed just 26.9 percent from the field after intermission. Amit Tamir paced Cal in scoring for the second straight night with 16 points, while Leon Powe was held without a field goal for the first time all year, finishing with two points and eight rebounds. Keep an eye on Leon Powe who has paced Cal in rebounding in every game this year. In addition, Powe owns the high scoring output for a Cal player with 27. Arizona (9-1 SU, 3-6 ATS; H: 6-1 SU, 1-5 ATS) hosts its Pacific-10 Conference home opener here. Last Time Out, Salim Stoudamire hit 10-of-14 field goal attempts, including 4-of-4 from three-point range in the second half, en route to a game-high 26 points Saturday as Arizona downed Arizona State, 93-74. Stoudamire's efforts helped the Cats shoot 56.1 percent for the game (37-of-66), outrebound ASU, 41-28, and lead by as many 34 points in the second half. A real tough week for the Golden Bears who have two chances for a win this week, little and none!!!
